Worked as advertised, but word of warning!!
If you take any SSRI medication, taking L-Theanine as well may increase your risk of seratonin syndrome, a rare but extremely serious condition. If you take any serotinergic medication like SSRIs (Lexapro, Prozac, etc.), MAOIs, or TCAs, make sure you understand the risk and know the symptoms of seratonin syndrome when taking any supplement with L-Theanine.
A lot of people taking SSRI's have trouble waking in the morning and would benefit immensely from this product, so I hope Zest Labs releases a secondary version without L-Theanine so we can feel safe and comfortable taking it every day. At the moment I am only taking one pill (40mg caffeine, 40 mg L-Theanine) out of caution, but I wish I could take a full 80mg caffeine.

“Waking up after 7 hours like clockwork”
From Day 1, Zest has consistently worked in 7 hours for me. I'm still figuring out the timing and if I want to be a morning exerciser before getting ready for work, but I'm waking up less groggy and more able to plan and make decisions. I used to wake up well before I needed to be up in order to have multiple alarms and a slow morning to let the coffee hit. Taking Zest is already a big improvement for a night owl with an early morning job. My only issue is sometimes I want more than 7 hours of sleep, but it will wake me up after 7 hours. So it's hard to take daily, though I know that is how it works best. I'm going to try to take it at 10PM even on weekends to wake up at 5AM and hope those habits become regular during the workweek. I've been waking up a few minutes before my alarm every day, so it's not a surprise.

“Got me off provigil”
so I have idiopathic hypersomnia, and it has been getting increasingly worse in the last year. I was taking Provigil 200 mg twice a day and I was still having issues staying awake. Unfortunately, the Provigil put me in afib so taking more wasn’t really an option. My provider found this for me, and I started taking it in place of the provigil. It was a rough transition at first because I was also on propranolol. But after about a week, it helped me tremendously. Now I take two of these at night and I actually feel awake enough to drive to work. It’s safer because I don’t go into AFib anymore.

Perfectly Balanced
It works perfectly! I took it around 1030pm. Roughly 2hrs after eating. I shot straight up at 6am ready to rock and roll! Didn't even need the alarm. Then I had steady energy the rest of the day. No crash. 100% recommend

Ready to get up with no Jitters
I have always struggled to wake up earlier than absolutely necessary. I just got my first Zest pills in and tried it for the first time. I woke up exactly 8 hrs after I took it. I didn't wake up jittery or anything you just feel like you are awake and couldn't go back to sleep even if you tried. That makes it easy to decide to get up and do what you want to do.
I also have trouble falling asleep so I have paired it with melatonin about 30 mins earlier to maximize the amount of sleep I get in that 8 hr window.
I am really excited to see the long term consistency of finally being able to get up without issues.

Zest = LIFE CHANGING
Zest has been life changing for me. I struggle so badly with waking up in the mornings that I’ve been on seriously thin ice at work. Zest changed that for me. I wake up feeling refreshed, recharged, and ready to go when I take Zest. For me personally I’ve found the best time to take it is at 9:30 PM. Sometimes I even take 3 instead of 2 for that extra boost. Think natures adderall - without the crash. Specifically formulated for morning wake ups. I can still have coffee with my zest and feel fine. Zest does more than just put pep in my step. It allows me to be a better human being. I’m thriving with Zest and highly recommend it to anyone else who struggles with severe morning grogginess and/or sleep disorders!

Surprisingly Effective — A Game Changer for My Mornings
I decided to try Zest Wake Up Pills because I’ve been trying to manage my caffeine intake while pregnant, and I was really hoping to find something that could help me wake up feeling more alert without reaching for coffee first thing in the morning. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but these have genuinely impressed me.
You take two pills before bed, and by the next morning I feel noticeably more refreshed and clear-headed. It’s not a jittery or artificial feeling—just a smoother, more natural start to the day. I love that it helps me feel awake without immediately relying on caffeine.
The product is easy to use, gentle on my system, and the routine fits seamlessly into my nighttime habits. I also appreciate that the company is a startup; the packaging is clean, the instructions are simple, and it feels like a thoughtful, well-designed product.
Overall, I’m really happy I gave these a try. They’ve made my mornings easier, and I feel more in control of my energy levels. Definitely worth considering if you’re looking for an alternative way to support your morning wake-up routine.
(As always, especially during pregnancy, it’s important to check with your doctor about any supplements—but for me, this has been a great addition.)

Smooth energy for an easy start.
Really enjoyed the newfound morning energy. Helps me start my day smoothly and avoid laying in bed exhausted. Time release mechanism seems to work very well and I don't wake up jittery, but rather awake, alert, and ready for the day.

Someone wake up Green Day
Novel approach to a common problem. Delayed release caffeine has been a game changer for me. I've gotten a night time centric rhythm thats caused me to be very groggy and sleep in during the mornings, though this isn't conducive to my job. Zest gives me a boost for the morning and with their new version including L-theanine, fights off jitters and anxiety, so I wake up with a calm burst of energy. You can control the dosage as well if you only need a small boost. They are on V2 a month in to my subscription and there is no increase in price which I appreciate. This is a company who is experimenting to find their final product and I'm hear for it.
