Worked as advertised, but word of warning!!
If you take any SSRI medication, taking L-Theanine as well may increase your risk of seratonin syndrome, a rare but extremely serious condition. If you take any serotinergic medication like SSRIs (Lexapro, Prozac, etc.), MAOIs, or TCAs, make sure you understand the risk and know the symptoms of seratonin syndrome when taking any supplement with L-Theanine.
A lot of people taking SSRI's have trouble waking in the morning and would benefit immensely from this product, so I hope Zest Labs releases a secondary version without L-Theanine so we can feel safe and comfortable taking it every day. At the moment I am only taking one pill (40mg caffeine, 40 mg L-Theanine) out of caution, but I wish I could take a full 80mg caffeine.

“Waking up after 7 hours like clockwork”
From Day 1, Zest has consistently worked in 7 hours for me. I'm still figuring out the timing and if I want to be a morning exerciser before getting ready for work, but I'm waking up less groggy and more able to plan and make decisions. I used to wake up well before I needed to be up in order to have multiple alarms and a slow morning to let the coffee hit. Taking Zest is already a big improvement for a night owl with an early morning job. My only issue is sometimes I want more than 7 hours of sleep, but it will wake me up after 7 hours. So it's hard to take daily, though I know that is how it works best. I'm going to try to take it at 10PM even on weekends to wake up at 5AM and hope those habits become regular during the workweek. I've been waking up a few minutes before my alarm every day, so it's not a surprise.

“Got me off provigil”
so I have idiopathic hypersomnia, and it has been getting increasingly worse in the last year. I was taking Provigil 200 mg twice a day and I was still having issues staying awake. Unfortunately, the Provigil put me in afib so taking more wasn’t really an option. My provider found this for me, and I started taking it in place of the provigil. It was a rough transition at first because I was also on propranolol. But after about a week, it helped me tremendously. Now I take two of these at night and I actually feel awake enough to drive to work. It’s safer because I don’t go into AFib anymore.

Wow - they actually work!
I have only been taking this for about a week, but it's a game-changer! I take two capsules around 10pm, and when my alarm goes off at 6am I am able to get right up without the usual stumbling to the kitchen for a coffee or energy drink. I'm really impressed as how much less painful my mornings have been this week.

I don't write reviews.
Ok. First things first, I don't write reviews. This might be my first real review ever. But I want people to hear this. I've had an interesting journey with Zest. It started off poorly, waiting a month plus to receive my order which I was extremely excited for (with what I would consider insufficient communication about the delay, though it was around the holidays). When it finally came, my first night trying it I didn't really feel much. Some context: I am a daily caffeine drinker (1-3 cups per AM). I've been drinking coffee for decades so I believe I've built up a bit of a tolerance. After some research, I decided to up my dosage to three pills per night. That was it. Perfect. I suffer from sleep inertia in a big way. I've been working on a solution for years. I have sleep apnea and have been using a CPAP for three years. I thought that might cure me of waking up feeling like a lesser primate. But alas, no. That was not it. I definitely felt better throughout the day having slept more soundly with fewer wake ups overnight, but I still needed 1-2 hours in the morning to feel like myself. With three Zest pills prior to bedtime (11pm is when I take it), when my alarm goes off or my child crawls into bed and my eyes open, I am ... awake. Fully awake. Joyfully and excitedly awake. Cons: it's expensive and there are other delayed release caffeine pills out there. But the reason I decided to reup for another 3 month supply (which will admittedly not even last me three months as I am taking 3 pills instead of 2) is because of the addition of L-Theanine and B vitamins into the mix, plus the very tight window where the caffeine is released. Cheaper caffeine pills can not promise the same delayed release schedule. Ok Ted talk over. Get zest. You won't regret it.

More, better, constant energy
I feel so much more energy now throughout the day! And it's not in peaks like with coffee, it's constant instead. It's also got rid of my grogginess when I wake up, which feels really good. Definitely recommend!

Great for Mornings, Even Better for Travel
I’ve been using Zest Wake Up Pills for a while now, and the best way I can describe them is that they make it feel like I’ve already had a cup of coffee before I even leave bed. I’m not suddenly bouncing off the walls, just awake, alert, and much less tempted to hit snooze five more times.
They’ve also been a lifesaver for travel. I go to India fairly often, and jet lag on those trips can be rough, but these have helped tremendously with getting onto a new schedule and feeling functional a lot faster. Anything that helps you remember what day it is after a long-haul flight is doing something right.
One practical note: timing and what you’ve eaten does seem to matter a bit. I’ve noticed they tend to dissolve faster when I’ve eaten junk or a heavier meal, and a bit more slowly when I take them on a lighter stomach, so it’s worth paying attention to what works best for you.
Overall, they’ve become a regular part of my routine both at home and on the road. Simple, effective, and they make mornings feel a little less like a battle. Thank you for making this product!

Surprisingly Effective — A Game Changer for My Mornings
I decided to try Zest Wake Up Pills because I’ve been trying to manage my caffeine intake while pregnant, and I was really hoping to find something that could help me wake up feeling more alert without reaching for coffee first thing in the morning. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but these have genuinely impressed me.
You take two pills before bed, and by the next morning I feel noticeably more refreshed and clear-headed. It’s not a jittery or artificial feeling—just a smoother, more natural start to the day. I love that it helps me feel awake without immediately relying on caffeine.
The product is easy to use, gentle on my system, and the routine fits seamlessly into my nighttime habits. I also appreciate that the company is a startup; the packaging is clean, the instructions are simple, and it feels like a thoughtful, well-designed product.
Overall, I’m really happy I gave these a try. They’ve made my mornings easier, and I feel more in control of my energy levels. Definitely worth considering if you’re looking for an alternative way to support your morning wake-up routine.
(As always, especially during pregnancy, it’s important to check with your doctor about any supplements—but for me, this has been a great addition.)

This is the kind of Innovation science was made for!
I was skeptical at first, but this little pill is life changing! I always used to wake up groggy, no matter how much sleep I got, and coffee barely helped. So how much good would a single caffeine pill be? Well it's So much help! First the effects seemed mild. I was getting a lot of sleep, so I thought maybe I was just finally feeling more rested on my own...or maybe it was just a placebo effect? But then I accidentally skipped about 3 days in a row - and Wow did I noticed the difference! I wake up naturally now, feeling normal - but Rested and Not Groggy. It even Physically helped by significantly shrinking my swollen and puffy morning under eye bags! I Love Zest!!
